Applies To ■ Job Captain ■ Technology/Building Science Specialist ■ Project Manager (special projects) ■ Technologist Description This position recognizes a very high level and experienced technologist who is a Job Captain, Technology/Building Science Specia (special projects), or a senior technologist who works in collaboration with other technologists in a team environment. Technology positions specialize in the production of construction documentation including the drawings and specifications. Techno focus on the building sciences including envelope design, building/construction codes coordination and integration of building syst and structural) and materials and methods of construction. He/she develops and maintains an expertise with computer assisted draft tool. Professional Qualifications ■ Minimum of a High School Diploma ■ Preference: Post Secondary Diploma from an accredited school of Architectural Technology ■ Minimum 7 years of experience in Design/Architectural industry Roles and Responsibilities ■ May contribute to the production of contract documents for any project under direction of the Project Architect, Project Manager, Advanced Senior Technologist ■ Coordinates, delegates and leads the Architectural Technology Team (Job Captain) ■ Responsible and accountable for project drawing quality control ■ Coordinates subconsultants during the contract document stage ■ Provides onsite participation and direction during construction ■ In concert with Project Architect/Project Manager, reviews and approves shop drawings ■ May assist in onsite verifications ■ Informs Department Manager, Project Architect, Project Manager and/or Partner-in-Charge of progress and problems ■ May carry out the implementation and coordination of record drawings and manuals ■ Follows all office standards and policies as described in handbook Knowledge Skills and Abilities ■ Able to draw proficiently with AutoCAD ■ Able and willing to supervise, direct and mentor junior and intermediate technology staff ■ Able and willing to direct complex projects and large technology teams ■ Able and willing to manage project resources, costs and schedules ■ Able and willing to accept accountability for the quality and accuracy of information on drawings ■ Advanced understanding of architectural document preparation ■ Advanced understanding of the design and construction process ■ Advanced knowledge and experience with Building Codes ■ Communicates proficiently in English (written and verbal) ■ Strong organizational and time-management skills
